Have you ever heard of the All-American Grand Slam and no, I’m not talking about that breakfast special from Denny’s. I’m talking about what local women’s basketball star of Kentucky Rhyne Howard did in college basketball this past season during her junior year.
The Chattanooga product completely dominated not only the SEC but college basketball as a whole. Saturday, she was recognized as a First-Team All-American by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and thus completing the aforementioned Grand Slam which is achieved by a player winning the following awards: AP All-America First Team, Wooden All-America First Team, USBWA All-America First Team, and WBCA All-America First Team.
This was the first time in Kentucky history that this feat has been accomplished so shout out to Ms. Howard! She’s an incredible player with an extremely bright future ahead of her in basketball as she’s also captured back-to-back SEC Player of the Year Honors.
ALL-AMERICA GRAND SLAM.
(first in school history)
★ AP All-America First Team
★ Wooden All-America First Team
★ USBWA All-America First Team
★ WBCA All-America First TeamIt is fitting to round out the slate with her first WBCA All-America.
