Mel Kiper 4.0 Mock Draft: Falcons/Titans

The Atlanta Falcons hold the number four overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft while the Tennessee Titans are picking 22nd.

On Thursday, Mel Kiper Jr. released his fourth mock draft of the NFL off-season and this one continued to include trades that he believes will either happen or should happen.

Last time, he saw the Atlanta Falcons Atlanta staying put at four and grabbing a signal-caller in North Dakota State’s, Trey Lance. This time around he’s still got the Falcons grabbing Lance but trading down to six overall with the Miami Dolphins to do so. In this scenario, he believes Miami would only have to part with a future second and third-rounder to get the deal done in order for them to move up two spots to snag Florida’s unicorn TE/WR hybrid Kyle Pitts who has shot up draft boards.

Lance hasn’t played consistently since 2019 because the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the 2020 fall season for the Bison. However, he was exceptional when he did get the opportunity to play in ’19 passing for 2,786 yards while completing 67% of his passes, throwing 28 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

With Matt Ryan still under contract, this pick would signal that the organization is hoping that Lance can take over when the team is ready to rebuild and move on from their long-time franchise QB.

The pick would be a bit risky but it’s sort of like investing in a sock that you hope will pay off in the long run. (HTTR Productions)

Now, for the Titans Kiper had them looking back towards the offensive side at No. 22 with his selection of Ole Miss WR Elijah Moore. In his previous Mock Draft’s he’s sighted players like Miami’s DE Jaelen Phillips and FL’s WR Kadarius Toney.

With Tennessee losing Corey Davis and Adam Humphries this off-season they’ll be looking to add fire-power, specifically from the slot, a position they thought they had filled with Humphries when they signed him from Tampa Bay but he never panned out how they hoped he would. Moore might be a better and more dynamic fit at the slot position, somewhere he did a lot of his damage at in college for the Rebels.

During the 2020 season, he toasted opposing defenses with 1,193 yards receiving and eight touchdowns scored in just eight games. I would love to see what he could do within this offense with Ryan Tannehill at the helm. He’s a guy with some dangerous speed, great agility, and he catches the ball with his hands, not his body.
