The high school basketball postseason is now in full force in both Tennessee and Georgia, and many teams took to the court last night and will as well as tonight.
In Tennessee, the Chattanooga Christian boys’ team defeated FACS 62-50 in the 1st round of the TSSAA DII-A Playoffs. They now move onto the Elite 8, and will play at Webb Bell Buckle at 5pm EST this Saturday. The Notre Dame boys’ team did not fare so well, falling to top-ranked Goodpasture, 42-36 to end their season. The loss brings the Fighting Irish’s final record to .500%, at 17-17. This game was also a 1st round match-up in the DII-A bracket.
No local Tennessee games are scheduled for tonight.
On the Georgia side of things, the GHSA Boys and Girls State Playoffs are now into the 2nd round, with 3 teams in action last night. The Calhoun boys’ team lost 68-51 on the road at Cedar Grove in Class AAA action, bringing their season to an end. Gage Maffetone led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points. Calhoun finishes the year with a 16-11 record. Also in action, Christian Heritage’s girls’ team fell 81-49 to St. Francis in the Class A-Private bracket, and in Class AA, Chattooga’s girl’s team lost 82-40 at Rabun County.
