Tennessee teams crank back up the basketball postseason here on the local scene tonight and tomorrow, and down in Georgia, the 2nd round of the GHSA State Basketball Playoffs wrapped up.
For Tennessee, the TSSAA State Playoffs continue in Division II with 3 boys’ teams in action, and the region tournaments continue for the public schools.
In Georgia, 5 different teams were on the hardwood last night. In Boys’ action, Christian Heritage defeated Wesleyan 58-45 to advance to the Elite 8 in Class A-Private bracket. They, however, were the only boys’ team out of North Georgia to emerge victorious. North Murray at home in overtime 56-54 to Hart County, ending their season with a 24-5 record, and as Region 6-4A champions. Chattooga also fell at home last night, losing 71-59 to Callaway. The Indians finish the year 18-11.
For the girls, the 6-4A Region Champion Heritage Lady Generals kept their season alive, beating Oconee County 53-42 at home to advance to the Elite 8. Also out of 6-4A, the Northwest Whitfield Lady Bruins were on the road at Sandy Creek. They were unsuccessful in making it back to the Elite 8, losing 65-61, and ending their season with a final record of 23-6.
