Brainerd, Cleveland, and Howard’s opponents are announced for the boys’ state tournament next week.

The Chattanooga Metro area will be well-represented at the boys’ state tournament in Murfreesboro next week, with three teams qualifying earlier this week on Monday night, and now we know who each team will be playing.

In the Class AA bracket both Brainerd and Howard will be playing on Wednesday, March 13th. The Hustlin’ Tigers will play East Nashville at 10am CST, and the Panthers will play later in the day at 2:45pm CST vs. Pearl Cohn.

For Howard, East Nashville boasts an impressive 26-6 record, and is coming off a win in the state sectionals over Nolensville. As for Brainerd’s opponent, Pearl Cohn was the 5-2A region champion, and beat Murfreesboro Central in their state sectional game.

Up in Class AAA, Cleveland may have gotten the toughest draw. The Blue Raiders will match-up next Thursday with 3-time defending champion Memphis East. Memphis East is led by the 5-star 7-footer James Wiseman (who is committed to play for the University of Memphis). Wiseman is averaging 23.5 points per game, and 14.4 rebounds per game, and is the top rated player in the State of Tennessee, and 2nd ranked nationally for the Class of 2019. Wiseman was also awarded Mr. Basketball for Tennessee, and is a McDonald’s All-American. Cleveland, however, is riding a 21 game win streak, and is one of the hottest teams in the state. Cleveland and Memphis East tip at 11:30am CST on Thursday, March 14th.
