On Wednesday, the Cincinnati Reds announced that Ricky Gutierrez will manage the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts during the 2020 season.
Gutierrez, who played for six teams over a 12-year MLB career and won a World Series in 2004 as a member of the Boston Red Sox, most recently managed the Daytona Tortugas in the high Single-A Florida State League. Gutierrez’s Daytona teams went 135-134 in his two seasons managing the club.
Hitting coach Daryle Ward returns to Chattanooga after guiding the Lookouts to a Southern League-best .259 batting average a season ago. Pitching coach Seth Etherton and bench coach Lenny Harris round out the 2020 staff.
The Lookouts will open next season at AT&T Field against the Jackson Generals on April 9.
