The Atlanta Braves continued to bolster their bullpen with the signing of reliever Chris Martin to a two year, $14 million contract. Martin came to the Braves just before the 2019 trade deadline after spending the first half of the season with the Rangers. He finished the 2019 campaign with a 3.40 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP.

Atlanta signed former Giants closer Will Smith on November 14th.  The addition of Smith, and the welcoming back of Martin to go along with Mark Melancon, Darren O’Day, and Shane Greene should help solidify the Braves bullpen, which struggled in 2019. Atlanta now has $36.25 million committed to Melancon, Smith, O’Day and Martin. Shane Greene is expected to receive around $6.5 million through arbitration.

The signing of Chris Martin and Will Smith are the start of what is shaping up to be a banner off-season for the Braves.
