The NCAA’s football early signing period began on Wednesday and several Chattanooga area student-athletes put pen to paper, signing on to play at the next level. McCallie’s DeAngelo Hardy leads the pack as he signed to play for head coach Tim Glanton and Kennesaw State. Hardy de-committed from the Owls a few months ago, but decided to rejoin the program after signing his Letter of Intent.

Three of the Chattanooga area’s student-athletes signed to play for the hometown Mocs. Ringgold offensive lineman Reid Williams, Baylor’s Christian Martin and Red Bank’s Lucas Brown Jr. kept true to their commitment and will join Rusty Wright’s program in the fall of 2020. Williams was a two-time All-State lineman at Ringgold, anchoring the Tiger line at the center position. Christian Martin is a physical tight end who received All-Region honors as a Red Raider. Martin contributed to running back Elijah Howard’s success in the ground game this season, paving the way for the talented running back.  Brown led all Chattanooga area receivers in yards this season, and received Region 3-AAA Receiver of the Year honors. The Red Bank product posted a stat line consisting of 63 receptions, 1,156 yards, and 11 touchdowns this season. He added three interceptions and six pass breakups as a defensive back.
