Vanderbilt athletic director Malcolm Turner has stepped down after one year on the job. Turner took over as AD on Febraury 1, 2019. Turner served as the president of the NBA’s G League before Vanderbilt hired him. As athletic director, Turner replaced basketball coach Bryce Drew with Jerry Stackhouse. The Tennessean’s Adam Sparks first reported the news.

With Turner stepping down, Vanderbilt has named former Commodore student-athlete Candice Storey Lee as the school’s interim vice chancellor for athletics. Lee is a three-time graduate of Vanderbilt and was a captain on Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball team.
Lee will be the first female athletic director in the SEC and the first African American woman to head any program in conference history.
