Four Chattanooga area prep basketball players will have an opportunity to be crowned Mr. or Miss Basketball this season. The TSSAA announced the finalists for each classification on Thursday.

Cleveland High School’s Jacobi Wood was named a Class AAA Mr. Basketball finalist joining Maryville’s Joe Anderson and Mt. Juliet’s Will Pruitt. The senior guard has led Cleveland to a perfect 24-0 overall record. The Belmont signee is averaging 27 points, 4.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game this season. Wood’s efforts so far this season has the Blue Raiders atop the Class AAA rankings for the first time in program history.

East Hamilton’s star guard Madison Hayes has the chance to repeat as Miss Basketball in 2020. The Mississippi State signee and McDonald’s All-American has been a force for the Lady Canes all season, averaging a double-double (25.1 points and 10.9 rebounds) in her final prep basketball season.

Silverdale’s Laney Bone and Baylor’s Raegyn Conley are the only juniors from the Chattanooga area represented. Bone has been an offensive force for Silverdale and head coach Victor Underwood, averaging 21.3 points per game. Conley, a 6-foot point guard, has led the Lady Red Raiders to a 17-4 record overall and a 3-0 record in district play.

The TSSAA will announce the winners of Mr. and Miss Basketball March 10 at the Murphy Center before the Division I girls basketball tournament tips off.
