University of Georgia defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt was arrested late Tuesday night by the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office on charges of criminal trespass, damage to property and family violence.

According to the UGA Police Department incident report, a person called 911 on Feb. 21 to notify police of a man and woman arguing outside of a UGA dorm. Following the argument, Wyatt followed the female to her dorm and kicked the door multiple times from the hallway, breaking the door open. On Tuesday, an Athens-Clarke County judge signed a warrant for Wyatt’s arrest.

Wyatt, a senior from Decatur, Ga., played in 13 games for the Dawgs in 2019, including the Sugar Bowl against Baylor. Wyatt started that game and totaled four tackles in the win. The 6-foot-3, 301-pound defensive tackles finished the 2019 season with 30 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and a fumble recovery.

Wyatt’s arrest is the first public arrest of the new year for head coach Kirby Smart’s football team. His bond is being set at $1,500.
