South Pittsburg High School star athlete Ronto Tipton has committed to continue his collegiate football career at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York.

Tipton, a Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps first-team defensive back selection, recorded 37 tackles and three interceptions in his senior season with the Pirates. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete rushed for 2,991 yards and 43 touchdowns in his career and scored 48 total touchdowns in his prep career. Tipton also earned Most Valuable Player honors for Tennessee’s Region 3-A this past season.
Hudson Valley Community College finished 5-4 last season. The Vikings will have three South Pittsburg Pirates on their roster in 2020 as defensive lineman Josh Hutchins and athlete Jaylyn Hubbard signed on Feb. 14 to continue their football career in Troy.
