The Tennessee Titans have parted ways with defensive lineman Jurrell Casey. The team traded Casey to the Denver Broncos for a seventh-round draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport first reported the deal.

Casey, who is entering his age-30 season, is a five-time Pro Bowler and has spent all of his nine-year NFL career in Nashville. He started 137 of the 139 games he played in for the Titans and 493 tackles, 84 tackles for loss, 51 sacks and five fumble recoveries. Casey led Titans’ defensive lineman with 44 total tackles in 2019. His 5.0 sacks were tied for second on the team with linebacker Kamalei Correa and behind edge rusher Harold Landry.

The Titans will return DaQuan Jones, former first-rounder Jeffery Simmons and Austin Johnson to their defensive tackle room next season. Jones and Johnson played in sixteen games each last season, and Jeffery Simmons played in nine games due to injury.

The trade saves Tennessee over $10 million against the salary cap. The late round pick acquired by Tennessee has to be a slap in the face to Casey, who is one of the top players in the league at his position.
