UTC and head coach Rusty Wright closed out a strong 2020 recruiting class a little over a month ago. The class features seven three-star prospects and a highly touted quarterback in Ty Gossett.
Gossett graduated in 2019, but spent last fall at Jireh Prep mastering his craft and awaiting offers from higher-level institutions. After an official visit to Chattanooga, Gossett wrapped up his recruitment process, verbally committing to the Mocs on Dec. 9, 2019. He signed during the December signing period to make it official.
The gunslinger threw for over 7,000 yards and 77 TDs as a three-year starter at T.C. Roberson High School. Gossett enrolled at UTC in January and during the down time presented by COVID-19, Gossett posted a video on his Twitter account showing off his arm strength.

The video is a “remake” of former quarterback Nick Tiano making the same throw, which was posted on Twitter by UTC Director of Recruiting Zach Kramme.

Gossett joins a Mocs’ quarterback room of Old Dominion transfer Drayton Arnold and Cole Copeland, who returned to the Mocs this spring after a year away from the program. Chris James is listed as a quarterback on UTC’s official roster, but spent all of last season working with the tight ends.
