The Atlanta Braves would be opening their season today at Chase Field for a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but COVID-19 has delayed the start to the Major League season.
Braves players, like baseball fans around the world, are missing being out on the diamond and some expressed their feelings on social media.
Newly signed reliever Will Smith, who signed a three-year, $39 million deal during the offseason, will have to wait a few weeks before taking the mound in a Braves uniform.

Outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. tweeted a picture of him leaving the back fields of the Braves’ facility in North Port, Fla. with the caption “Missing this”.

Major League Baseball is aiming for a mid-May Opening Day, but the lingering spread of the coronavirus could push that wishful start date back even further.
